This brass-bound wooden trunk or box, often referred to as a campaign chest or merchant's trunk is from the late 19th century, possibly from India.
The box is made of teak with brass fittings on the corners and edges for reinforcement.
The lock plate on the front is a distinctive heart shape.

The interior features several compartments, suggesting it was used for organized storage, as a liquor box, campaign trunk or storing valuables or merchandise. This type of furniture, known for its portability and durability, was popular during the Victorian era, particularly for military officers and merchants traveling to and from colonial territories.

Perfect for storing bottles of spirits, champagne and wine.
