Pair of Antique Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Vases – Dragon Handles
A matching pair of late 19th-century Japanese patinated bronze baluster-form vases, dating to the Meiji Period (1868–1912), circa 1880–1890. These pieces were crafted during the boom era of Japanese metalwork production for Western export.
  • Material: Heavily cast patinated bronze.
  • Finish: Deep chocolate/reddish-brown original patina.
  • Handles: Twin stylized Japanese dragons (Ryu) flanking the flaring neck.
  • Decoration: High-relief (Taka-zogan) cast panels on the main body depicting traditional scenes of birds perched amidst trees and foliage.
