Antique, likely dating from the Late Qing Dynasty or Early Republic Period (c. 1900–1930).
Soapstone (Steatite) is a soft, dense stone, allowing for the fine detail seen in the carving. The vases have a classic baluster form and are heavily detailed with traditional motifs, including powerful dragons emerging from swirling clouds and stylized floral/scrollwork.
Each vase is constructed in multiple pieces (the main body and a two-section base/foot), which is characteristic of complex soapstone carvings of this style.
Height (Total): 11 inches, (8-inch body, 1.5-inch base section, 1.25-inch base section).
