A fantastic 19th Century Coaching Table. With makers plaque for Thornton and Herne of Pont Street, London. Coaching tables were designed to be folded away and carried on the coach to provide a flat surface away from home. They may also have been used as 'Campaign' furniture during military campaigns. This large table opens and locks in to place with a bar underneath. When closed it is held shut by a small hook.
