Art Deco Clock Garniture – Figural Spelter on Onyx Base (c. 1920s–1930s) – Working Clock & Key!
A highly desirable three-piece Art Deco clock set, known as a garniture, that epitomizes the streamlined glamour and sophistication of the Jazz Age (1920s–1930s). This impressive set is in remarkably complete condition, featuring its original, working clock mechanism and key, making it a highly prized piece for any serious collector or interior.
Authentic Art Deco (c. 1920s–1930s).
The clock and side pieces are mounted on a heavy, substantial base made of polished Onyx. The stone features striking geometric cuts and beautiful natural veining in shades of cream/pale yellow and deep reddish-brown/maroon.
-
- The central clock unit is mounted within the marble and features a bold, geometric diamond-shaped metal bezel.
- The squared face presents a clean, legible design typical of the era.
- Functionality Confirmed: The clock mechanism is fully working and includes its original winding key, which is a rare and significant feature.
- An elegant seated female figure, cast in Spelter (a metal alloy used for decorative sculptures) with a silvered & bronze-toned finish, rests gracefully on the marble base.
- The figure is posed in a classic Art Deco style, representing the modern, fashionable woman of the era.
- The Garnitures: The flanking marble blocks complete the three-piece symmetrical set, emphasizing the central sculpture and clock unit.
- The clock is in working order, running from its original mechanical movement, and comes with the essential, original winding key.
- The spelter figure is firmly attached and displays an attractive, aged patina on its metallic finish, enhancing its vintage appeal. There is a repair to the bird the figure is holding, therefore condition is fair to good.
