This very beautiful, miniature French jewellery casket dates from Napoleon III (1852-1870).
In the style of Louis XV.
This trinket box is made of French Regule - a type of metal alloy, very similar to what is known as Spelter in English. It was used to imitate bronze but at a lower cost. The box has the trademark or patent inscription on the base ‘DEPOSE 263’.
The inside is linked with bright fuchsia tufted silk. The condition is very good for its age, with minimal signs of wear on the outside. 12cms.
