Rare Antique Austrian Secessionist Copper, Brass & Glass Dish c1890’s

This very unusual piece dates from around 1890’s and was made by the artistic movement known as the Austrian Secession or the Vienna Secession. the Secessionist artistic movement was established by a group of artists who broke away from conservative convention. One such notable Secessionist was Gustav Klimt.

Gustavs younger brother Georg was an exceptionally talented artist in his own right and worked a great deal in copper, bronze and other metals. The style of this item very much lends itself to his aesthetic. 

The piece itself measures 18x20cm, the original glass liner sits neatly within the bowl. Decorated with a stylistic male, possibly a King, this is a truly unique piece.
