Vintage West African Bronze Musician Sculpture
A striking vintage bronze sculpture depicting an African man seated and fully engrossed in playing a traditional West African spike lute or harp-lute.
The figure is cast in solid metal using the ancient lost-wax method (cire perdue). The artist has captured the musician in stylized traditional attire, focused intently on his instrument, which features a large circular resonator and a straight neck/spike. The sculpture stands on a small, integrated base and has developed a deep, aged dark patina.
This is an excellent example of West African figurative folk art, celebrating the deep cultural significance of music.
West Africa (Likely Nigeria or related region). Traditional West African spike lute or harp-lute.
Height: 10.5 inches. Base Dimensions: 3.5 x 2.5 inches
